Immigrate to Canada by starting a business
There are several programs available for international entrepreneurs that want to open their own business in Canada and with that, promote Canada's economic growth and employment.
In this section, we will discuss 3 different options: The Startup Visa program, Provincial Entrepreneurs Programs and Self Employed program.
Startup Visa Program
The Start-up Visa program is aimed for international entrepreneurs that have an innovative idea.
To be eligible for the start-up visa program, you must:
● Have a qualifying business;
● Get a letter of support from a designated organization;
● Have a minimum of CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) level 5 as your language proficiency results;
● Provide Proof of minimal funds.

Provincial Entrepreneur Programs
Provincial Entrepreneur programs will usually require senior management experience, a proven net worth and liquid funds to invest in Canada. The amount of funds required starts from only CAD$100,000.00 (One Hundred thousand Canadian dollars).
In addition to the investment, you must prove that your business is going to be viable, and commit to employ at least one Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
In most programs, you are also required to present a minimal level of proficiency in either English or French.
There are many options available for you to select, depending on the province you chose to apply, type of business and investment you are looking into making.

Self-Employed Program
To immigrate to Canada as a self-employed person, you need to have relevant experience in cultural or athletics activities. You are required to have at least 2 years within the 5 years prior to your application and be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.
Just like the Express Entry, the Self-Employed Program is also a point based system, in which you need at least 35 points in order to qualify.This program takes into consideration the following factors:
● Age (Maximum of 10 points)
● Education (Maximum of 25 points)
● Experience (Maximum of 35 points)
● Language proficiency (Maximum of 24 points)
● Adaptability (Maximum of 6 points)
